Blog of a veggie lady who can't stay in one place for too long, loves to dumpster dive, loves to craft and can rant about feminism for hours! Just little notes and photos from my travels and the qwirky, fun, arty and ridiculous things I've seen! (and things I've found in bins.)

One of the first days I was back in England was a crazy one!  A while ago a Canadian police officer told some girls that to avoid rape they should “women should avoid dressing like sluts.”.  This has sent a wave of reactionary protests across the globe with the idea that rather than teaching women that how they dress determines their safety, men should be taught that there is never an excuse to molest someone.  There’s way too much shaming and blaming victims rather than teaching men to simply not rape people, which really shouldn’t be that difficult!  A few of my friends have been raped, not a single one of them has gone to the police from feelings of shame, embarrassment and that it wouldn’t do any good anyway, which just shouldn’t be the case.  My final year project isn’t going to be based on this, but I’m going to be looking at different ways to get my point across about climate change, so, protests like this are a kind of inspiration!  The turn out was absolutely incredible, everyone was in good spirits.  This is what I love about protests, they’re often misconstrued as something negative, angry and violent, but are mostly peaceful, positive and full of lovely chatty people!  I saw a few people I haven’t seen in ages, and even bumped into people I didn’t expect to see!  Also, at the same time the London Naked Bike Ride went by!  It’s to promote cycle tolerance in the city, which is another part of my project all together!
